Joey’s PAW Coffee Collab

Joey’s PAW x Ima Bean Coffee

I volunteer with the charity Joey’s PAW, an organization that provides prosthetics and wheelchairs to special-needs dogs around the world. This is one of our latest collabs with Ima Bean Coffee.

I took the photo of the bag of coffee and mug in my home studio. Then I carefully prompted Gemini to create a very specific cafe scene for me (complete with steaming coffee coming from the mug), which it did quite perfectly, I might add. The only problem was the text on the label had been all tangled up. It was garbled and … well, it looked ridiculous. There was no way I could use it.

So, after about a half dozen failed attempts at asking Gemini to clean it up, I decided to research if there was a fix for this. And there really wasn’t, at least not to the level I needed it. There’s a lot of copy on that label and some of it is very small.

What I found out was AI treats text as a visual pattern. So, all those important words on the label? They're viewed as a collection of pixels and shapes. In essence, AI views the letters and words as nothing more than discrete objects.

So, I reached out to one of my graphic designers on Fiverr. He took the label from my original photo, and superimposed it on the new version in less that 24 hours! I think he did a great job!
